Quality and Performance
Broadcast Profile
Determines the balance between quality and resource consumption.
Connection Mode
- Distributed: Uses Souv infrastructure
- Point-to-Point: Direct connection for low latency
Resolution
Choose the target resolution for the broadcast. Avoid using resolutions higher than your connection's upload capacity or higher than what will be displayed.
Video Codec
| Codec | Max Resolution | Quality | Hardware Acc. | Recommended Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| H264 (AVC) | 4K | ★★★ | Yes | Broad compatibility across devices |
| H265 (HEVC) | 8K | ★★★★ | Yes | High efficiency with native support in the Agent |
| VP8 | 1080p | ★★ | Partial | Legacy workflows |
| VP9 | 8K | ★★★★ | Partial | Better efficiency at lower bitrates |
| AV1 | 8K | ★★★★★ | No | Maximum quality (software encoding) |
Because it works on virtually every device, H264 remains the safest default choice. H265 offers greater compression efficiency and is natively supported by the Souv Agent for high-quality streams with lower bandwidth usage. Enable hardware acceleration whenever possible to improve performance, avoid overheating, and save battery.
